Recipe Info

I used to make this french toast in the mornings after my daughter’s friends were over for a night of drinking, just to have a group of teenagers rip through over a loaf of bread’s worth of french toast, and wolf it down with no remorse! They would keep coming back for more, as soon as it came off the griddle! So i now present to you, the most infamous french toast, that has gotten rave reviews from many a hungover teen!

Ingredients:
5 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk (you can also use half & half, or flavored coffee creamer like French Vanilla, Hazelnut, or whatever you fancy!)
Vanilla Flavor (Vanilla Sugar packet or 1 tsp of extract)
Cinnamon to taste, Optional: Speculaas Seasoning, Apple Pie Spice
Bread (We save the ends of the loaves of bread in the freezer for a while, and use them when we want to have french toast, just dip them in the egg bath frozen and put them on the griddle, they cook perfectly in a few minutes)

Method: In a medium mixing bowl add in the eggs and beat well! Then, add in the sugar and milk, and mix well until completely combined. Add in the vanilla and seasoning. Next, heat a non stick frying pan or griddle to med high heat, if using a frying pan, some melted butter adds a nice crispness to the French Toast! Lightly spray with cooking spray or oil if needed! (Not necessary if using the butter) check the heat of the griddle or pan by splashing a few drops of water on it… it the water dances on contact, its ready. Dip the bread in the egg mixture, soaking it completely and place the it on the hot pan or griddle. Let it cook for a few minutes, and when the edges look dry, and starting to brown, lift the edge with a flipper to check the under side… should be a nice golden color… proceed to flip and cook the other side till golden as well, usually just a few minutes. Remove to a plate while you finish cooking the rest of the French Toast, serve warm with butter, and syrup, powdered sugar, fresh fruit, cream cheese and jam!

Makes about 16-20 slices depending on size!
